Despite the persistent rain and mist, all four sections of the Group enjoyed participating in the Rowing Regatta hosted by 8ú Calafort Gasóga Mara as part of our Ceiliúradh Caoga Bliain. The many afternoons and evenings spent practicing paid off with fantastic success by many teams, especially the strong performance and great win in the Woodlatimer Trophy, Skiff u17.
Many thanks to Ciarán and the leader team for running the regatta, the Parents and Friends Committee for the great den clean up w/e and hospitality, and to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for granting permission to use the back beach area which seemed to work really well for the event.
It is with great pride that we wish the very best of luck to Eoin and Killian, who will be representing Ireland in the 2016 William I Koch International Sea Scout Cup in Long Beach, California from 29 July-5 August. Go n-éirí go geal libh.
The wonderful new skiff build is progressing well and each section has been asked to submit two possible names from Irish Mythology for the new skiff.
Names (and any supporting background information) to be emailed to Group Leader, Feargus Barry, by Thurs 30th June.
Many thanks to all the parents and scouts who took part in fundraising in recent years to make this fantastic new skiff a possibility for our scouts – perfect as an important part of our Ceiliúradh Caoga Bliain. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir!
